Recently, Grand Master Shi Xing Wu of Canada Xing Wu Zen Temple led his disciples, by invitation, to take part in two grand cultural events: the Vancouver Chinatown Festival and the Kitsilano Beach Music Festival.
The splendid demonstrations of Chinese Kung Fu ignited the audience’s enthusiasm. With every stance and movement—fists flashing, blades gleaming—the performances not only showcased the allure of Chinese martial arts, but also made the light of Chinese culture shine brilliantly in Vancouver’s summer.
Grand Master Shi Xing Wu shared at the event:
“Martial arts are not only techniques for strengthening the body; they are also a path of cultivation. Through training we learn to become more resilient, peaceful, and self-disciplined. By studying and promoting traditional martial arts, we hope more people can gain a direct understanding and grow to love of our traditional culture.”
For many years, Canada Xing Wu Zen Temple has been dedicated to promoting the finest aspects of traditional Chinese culture. In April 2025, Grand Master Shi Xing Wu was awarded the titles of “New Era Intangible Cultural Heritage Cultural Communication Ambassador” and “Intangible Heritage Inheritor of Traditional Chinese Kung Fu” under China’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Recording Project and the Traditional Culture Inheritance and Development Program.
Grand Master Shi Xing Wu is committed to integrating traditional culture and martial arts with the compassion and wisdom of Buddhism into modern life, striving to spread Chinese traditional martial arts and culture so that more people may benefit in body and mind.
