On the morning of February 24th, the 11th “Zen Heart Respect for the Elderly Longevity Banquet,” hosted by the Xing Wu Zen Temple of Canada, was grandly held at the Continental Seafood Restaurant in Richmond. Two hundred seniors were invited to attend, gathering with guests from all walks of life to celebrate friendship and wish each other good health and longevity.
Early in the morning, volunteers were already busy and orderly setting up the venue to welcome the seniors. The Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble played a joyful welcoming tune, the melodious sounds of the instruments creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere, filling the venue with peace and happiness.
After the hosts, Sisi and Didi, announced the official start of the event, the song “Riding Horses and Whipping Grain in Busy transporting grain” was played with great vigor and high spirits, opening a joyous and auspicious prelude to the charity banquet and sending the most sincere New Year’s blessings to the elderly guests.

At the banquet, Venerable Master Shi Xing Wu offered prayers for the elders and delivered a speech, wishing them good health and longevity. Master also expressed special gratitude to the generous donors and his disciples and volunteers for their strong support. The Master stated that respecting the elderly is not only a responsibility but also a heartfelt wish; the eleven-year tradition of holding the charity banquet is precisely to promote the traditional Chinese virtue of respecting and caring for the elderly through practical actions, allowing goodwill to continue to flow in the community.
